One major difference between Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts is the increased responsibility for program decisions placed on the Scouts themselves. The Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters guide and assist the boy leaders in developing a quality Boy Scout program.

 

The Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster, while ultimately responsible, serve as consultants to the Scouts on program matters.

 

The Scouts collectively elect a Senior Patrol Leader who appoints the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader(s), plus various other offices as needed. The patrols each elect a Patrol Leader who is responsible for coordinating patrol activities. This forms the leadership structure of the troop.
