What we do

Monthly campouts.

The bread and butter of our experiences include monthly campouts. Each year, our scouts choose themes and then schedule out an entire year of experiences.

Some campouts are annual favorites, but each year a few new ones creep into the schedule. Here's just a few examples of our campouts.

Hiking

One of the coolest camping trips is the outdoor skills campout. Scouts get to learn survival skills and even sleep in a shelter they build themselves. Plus, it’s a great chance to work on ranking up!

Float Trip

On this campout, you spend the whole day on the water, paddling down a river in a kayak or canoe for 10 miles! We stop halfway to have lunch and take a break.

Climbing & High Ropes

The climbing campout is super fun! Even though it’s indoors, you get to climb these tall rock walls with your scout buddies and work on your climbing merit badge. At the end of the day, there’s pizza and time to tell stories!

Cold Weather & Klondike

Klondike is perfect for competitive scouts! You get to put your skills to the test and compete in challenges to see which troop comes out on top. Troop 708 has a winning streak at Klondike!

Summer Camp.

Summer camp is the highlight of our year. Every summer we attend summer camp as a Troop at Camp Hohn at the Lake of the Ozarks Scout Reservation.

Located on the Lake of the Ozarks Osage Arm near Laurie, Missouri, amid spectacular natural beauty and extreme rocky terrain, the Lake of the Ozarks Scout Reservation boasts 450 acres and a mile and one-half of shoreline.

High Adventures.

High Adventures are for Scouts and adult leaders who seek challenge and variety beyond our monthly camp outs. Troop 708 sends crews annually to BSA High Adventure Camps. We have an annual rotation for high adventure locations.

Dependent on the High Adventure location, Scouts should be at least 13 years old and have achieved the Troop required rank of Star Scout. Scouts must also meet the participation and preparation standards approved by the Troop Committee.
